Centurion Winter Downs 200
The Centurion Winter Downs 200 miler took place at the start of December and it was a showcase of absolute talent in ultra running!
The men’s race was won by Martin Wilson in a rapid time of 50hrs 20mins however he was challenged for the top spot the whole way by the incredibly talented Emma Stuart. She won the women’s race in a new course record of 50hours 52mins. Finishing second overall and beating the second male by nearly two hours.
Emma is an ultra runner and vet who has won races like UTS, Tor Des Geants and the Fellsman. She came over the the IOM in 2019 to do the MMM which was her first ever ultra! She finished the MMM in 6 hours 40 mins.
Second in the women’s race was the brilliant Rachel Fawcett who won UTS 2024 this year when I placed joint third. She complete the race in 54 hours 14 mins.
Third was Allie Ballie in a fantastic performance - she worked her way up the pack finishing 13th overall and a podium finish in the woman’s race of 65hours 34 mins. Edwina Sutton from the Teas and Trails podcast was coming 3rd for a long proportion of the race. She finished 4th and 16th overall in 67 hours and 52 mins. A great finish when things started to get tough for her later on in the race.
This race is long but the elevation profile is undulating rather than very high or lots of climbing so it is a great event to step up in distance.
Well done to all participants - love me some dot watching!
